Davis Cup: Indian tennis team reached Pakistan after 60 years, High Commissioner Geetika Srivastava welcomed

Islamabad. The Indian High Commission welcomed the Indian Davis Cup team here for the first time in 60 years. Indian tennis team has come to play Davis Cup match with Pakistan. Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan Geetika Srivastava welcomed the Indian players and officials on Wednesday.


The last time the Indian Davis Cup team came to Pakistan was in 1964. Sports relations are also hampered due to diplomatic tension between the two countries. Srivastava said, ‘It is a matter of pride to welcome the Indian national team here. This is a historic occasion that the Indian team has come to Pakistan after such a long time. We wish all the best to the team.

High Commission officials interacted with the players and also asked questions about the game. India and Pakistan will play Davis Cup World Group One match on February 3 and 4. The winner will remain in Group One while the losing team will be relegated to Group Two. India has never lost to Pakistan in the history of Davis Cup.
