Foreign and local coaches do not want to work with the board due to PCB’s shortsightedness: Misbah-ul-Haq

Karachi. Former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq believes that due to uncertainty and short-sightedness in the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), foreign and even local coaches do not want to work with the country’s cricket board.

Misbah has also served as the head coach and chief selector of the Pakistan team between 2019 and 2021. He lamented that players and coaches in Pakistan cricket were sacked on the basis of one or two series or due to changes in the top management of the board.

Misbah, who is coaching the Hyderabad franchise in a local tournament in Sindh province, said, if you look at the policies of the board, not only foreign coaches but even our local coaches do not want to work with the PCB. He said, Pakistan cricket should not be run in such a disorganized manner. We need to make long-term plans to prepare the team management, selectors and players. Unfortunately in Pakistan everything changes with a change in board leadership.

Misbah said that if players are not sure about what is happening on the board then how can they feel safe and establish themselves in the national team. He said, I believe that if proper time is not given to this process then you cannot build a good team or develop quality players. We need to look at the systems of some other countries which are successful.
