Heavy snowfall occurred in Badrinath, a popular pilgrimage site in Uttarakhand – News India Live


After the sudden change in weather in the high altitude areas of Uttarakhand, Badrinath Dham has been experiencing continuous heavy snowfall since yesterday. Badrinath, one of the oldest and most popular pilgrimage sites in the country, has been receiving heavy snowfall since Wednesday. Due to heavy snowfall in Uttarakhand, the Badrinath temple complex and surrounding hills are covered with white sheets of snow. Another popular pilgrimage site, Kedarnath temple, is covered in snow as snowfall continues in the area for the second consecutive day.

Due to western disturbance, there may be heavy rain and snowfall in the coming days.

Due to heavy snowfall in Tihri Garhwal, Surkanda Devi hills in Uttarakhand have also been covered with snow. Meanwhile, heavy snowfall has started in the hilly areas of Uttarakhand. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday said that due to western disturbance, there is a possibility of heavy rain and snowfall in the hilly areas of Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttarakhand in the coming days.

Yellow alert issued in Delhi, NCR

Kuldeep Srivastava, head of the Regional Meteorological Center in Delhi, said, “We expect heavy rain and snowfall in the hilly areas (Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttarakhand) due to the western disturbance.” He also said that the effect of western disturbance will also be seen in plain areas like Haryana, Delhi NCR and Uttar Pradesh. He has also issued an orange alert today. There is a possibility of storm and lightning in Punjab and Haryana today. Light rain is expected in Delhi, NCR today and there is also a possibility of thunderstorm and lightning. Fog is expected on 2nd February. Yellow alert has been issued in Delhi, NCR.
