Imran Khan and his wife sentenced to 7 years each, marriage of both is non-Islamic

Islamabad. A Pakistani court on Saturday sentenced jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi to seven years in prison each in the ‘non-Islamic marriage’ case.

The case was filed by Bibi’s first husband, Khawar Maneka, alleging that Bibi had violated the Islamic practice of ‘Iddat’, the mandatory gap between two marriages.

Maneka has also accused Bibi and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party founder Khan of having an adulterous relationship before marriage. The trial court had concluded the hearing on Friday night after a 14-hour long hearing in Adiala jail.
