Mumbai: Two months ago in November, a deepfake video of Rashmika Mandanna entering the lift went viral. Last week, Delhi Police claimed to have arrested the main culprit behind the deepfakes of the actress. Now, the actress has also revealed about her experience in an interview and explained why she spoke on this issue.

Have chosen a job!’ Or you know, ‘This is what’s going to happen.’ ‘Like, why are you talking about it now?’ In my mind, all I was thinking was that if this had happened to me in college, I would have had no one to come and support me. Because there’s something in our culture that we think what society thinks about us. Like we have to be and react the way society wants us to, you know, think and react, right?’

‘It was important for me to bring that awareness’
The actress further said, ‘So imagine if any girl from her college had to go through the same thing. And I’m like, man, I’m really scared for them. And if I’m talking about it, there are at least 41 million people who know, okay, there is something called deepfakes. And this is not right. There is something that is bringing up emotions and creating tension among people in general. So I think it was important for me to bring awareness.
