Fali S Nariman: Veteran Supreme Court lawyer Fali S Nariman has passed away today. He breathed his last today on 21st February at the age of 95. His office has given this information. He held the post of Additional Solicitor General during the government of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Veteran lawyer Fali Nariman has argued many landmark cases, including the famous National Judicial Appointments Commission case.

Was honored with Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan

The senior advocate of the country served as Additional Solicitor General between 1972 and 1975. He resigned from his post during the Emergency. He was awarded the Padma Bhushan in January 1991. Apart from this, he was also awarded Padma Vibhushan in the year 2007.

Abhishek Manu Singhvi expressed grief

Condoling the demise of senior advocate Fali S Nariman, Supreme Court advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi wrote on X, “He was a living legend, who will always be remembered by people associated with law and public life. Apart from his achievements, he remained firm on his principles.” Abhishek Singhvi further wrote, “He had said that using the phrase horse trading on the fault of humans is an insult to horses, which are very loyal animals. He used to discover the deep secrets of history and while speaking, he used to connect them in an incomparable way with his wisdom.”
