New Delhi. Former Deputy Prime Minister Lal Krishna Advani has been seen for the first time after the announcement of Bharat Ratna Award by the Government of India. He has greeted people and media persons by waving hands from his home. His daughter Pratibha Advani is also seen with him. It has been announced to give Bharat Ratna to Lal Krishna Advani, one of the founding faces of BJP. PM Modi himself announced this by posting on Facebook. The Prime Minister said in the post that his contribution to India’s development is memorable. His life started from working at the grassroots level to serving as the Deputy Prime Minister of the country.

Who is Lal Krishna Advani?
Senior BJP leader and the country’s seventh Deputy Prime Minister Lal Krishna Advani was born in Karachi, Pakistan on November 8, 1927 in a Hindu Sindhi family. His father’s name is Kishanchand Advani and mother’s name is Giani Devi. His father was an entrepreneur by profession. He received his early education from St. Patrick’s High School, Karachi. After this he joined DG National School, Hyderabad, Sindh. At the time of partition, his family left Pakistan and settled in Mumbai. Here he studied law from the Law College of the Bombay University. His wife’s name is Kamla Advani. His son’s name is Jayant Advani and daughter’s name is Pratibha Advani.

Advani remained BJP president for the longest period?
Advani started his political career through Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. For many years Advani was engaged in the work of RSS pracharak in Rajasthan. He is among those who laid the foundation of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Between 1980 and 1990, Advani worked to make the BJP a national level party. Lal Krishna Advani has been the National President of BJP thrice (1986 to 1990, 1993 to 1998 and 2004 to 2005). The party, which had won only two seats in 1984, got 86 seats in the next Lok Sabha elections. The party’s position reached 121 seats in 1992 and 161 in 1996. For the first time after independence, Congress was out of power and BJP had emerged as the party with the largest number.
