Custom department action at IGI airport, woman arrested with heroin worth Rs 82 crore

A team of customs officials at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport has succeeded in busting a case of heroin smuggling. The customs team has arrested a Nigerian drug smuggler in the case. 5.88 kg heroin worth more than Rs 82 crore has been recovered from the accused.

According to a Customs department spokesperson, the Customs Intelligence team caught a Nigerian woman who arrived at Delhi airport with drugs hidden in her luggage. He was carrying 5.88 kg heroin worth Rs 82.448 crore hidden in his bag from Addis Ababa.

Let us tell you that the value of the seized drug in the international market has been estimated to be around Rs 82.448 crore. Along with seizing it, the accused airport has been arrested on charges of smuggling under the NDPC Act. The customs team is investigating further in the matter.
