Happy start of UCC from Devbhoomi: Mahendra Bhatt – News India Live

Dehradun, 02 February (HS). Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president Mahendra Bhatt has expressed happiness over the submission of the draft to the Chief Minister on behalf of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) Committee. He said that the beginning of UCC from Devbhoomi is pleasant.

BJP state president Mahendra Bhatt said on Friday that the government is going to fulfill another promise made to the public. We hope that it should be passed unanimously by the House and a uniform civil law would be initiated from Devbhoomi.

Mahendra Bhatt said that Uniform Civil Code in the country is the ideological and principled commitment of the party. This is the reason that since its inception, the party has been continuously making public awareness and other efforts for its implementation, ignoring political gains and losses. This is the reason why in the last assembly elections under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, BJP had promised to implement UCC if the government is formed. After which a draft committee was formed in the first meeting of the cabinet. On the basis of more than 43 public dialogue programs, study meetings of committee members, a total of more than 2.33 lakh suggestions from all mediums including web portals, the state has finally got its draft Civil Code. Chief Minister Dhami has assured that it will be presented in the upcoming session. Now there is a wait for a few days when there will be a uniform law for all the citizens of Devbhoomi.

He has appealed to all political parties to rise above party sentiments and positively discuss this law made keeping in mind the sentiments of the people of Uttarakhand. Because we believe that there can be no other state better than Devbhoomi for the introduction of Uniform Civil Code system in accordance with Indian culture.

He urged the opposition workers who could not give suggestions due to some reason or for whom public sentiments are more important than politics, they can still put pressure on their party MLAs to put forward their positive suggestions in the House. Ignoring all the allegations of the opposition, he said that BJP does politics for the people, on public issues, that is why it is committed to one country, one law.

He said that in the initial days of independence, Congress and other party leaders also supported this issue, but adopted appeasement policy to please a section but did not adopt UCC.

Countering the allegations of bringing UCC for electoral gains, Bhatt said that Congress also has a golden opportunity to discuss the law in a positive manner when it comes in the House. Also take electoral advantage by giving your participation in passing it unanimously.
