Varun Kumar rape accused: A player of the Indian hockey team has been accused of raping a girl from Bengaluru for five years. The police have registered a case against the player under the POCSO Act. According to the police, hockey player Varun Kumar had promised to marry the girl. It is alleged that he has raped the victim several times in the last 5 years. The victim told that she was a minor when she was raped for the first time. The victim has lodged a complaint against Varun Kumar at Gyanbharti police station.

According to the report lodged with the police, the victim has said in her statement that in 2019 she met Varun Kumar through Instagram. At that time she was only 17 years old. When Sagira was molested for the first time, Varun was training at SAI. The girl alleges that after that, whenever Varun came to play a match at SAI Stadium in Bengaluru, he used to have physical relations with her. The victim is currently 22 years old, but when the two met, the girl was 17 years old.
Currently Varun Kumar is absconding
The victim told that Varun Kumar raped her several times in the last five years. Based on the complaint of the victim, an FIR has been registered against Varun Kumar in Gyanbharti police station. Police officials say that Varun Kumar is currently absconding. The police is trying to trace him.
Varun is originally from Himachal but moved to Punjab for hockey. Varun made his debut for the Indian hockey team in 2017. Varun won silver medal at 2022 Commonwealth Games. Apart from this, Varun was a part of the gold medal winning team in the 2022 Asian Games.
