Kolkata, 02 February (HS). Rahul Gandhi, who is leading Congress’ Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, has made a big comment on the leaders leaving Congress on the last day of the journey in Bengal. Referring to Assam Chief Minister Hemanta Biswa Sharma and veteran Mumbai leader Milind Deora, he said that it is good for such people to leave the Congress.
Rahul Gandhi has said that he wants leaders like Hemant Biswa Sharma and Milind Deora to separate from the party as their ideology is not in line with it. He said, have you heard the statements given by Hemant about Muslims? I have nothing to do with them, because there are values I would like to defend.
It is noteworthy that the resignation of former Union Minister and former MP from Mumbai South Milind Deora is the latest example of leaders leaving Congress and starting a new political journey, especially towards BJP. In Assam, Hemanta Biswa Sharma joined BJP before the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. At the same time, former Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh had joined BJP before the assembly elections in 2022. Leaders like Jyotiraditya Scindia, Jitin Prasada, former Congress Punjab unit chief Sunil Jakhar, Priyanka Chaturvedi, Hardik Patel, Sushmita Dev and RPN Singh have parted ways with the Congress in recent years.
