Lok Sabha Election 2024: Special app made for disabled voters, know how it will help – News India Live


The Election Commission has completed preparations for the Lok Sabha elections starting from April 19. Like every election, in this election too the Election Commission has made special preparations for the disabled voters.

This time the ECI has also announced the option of voting from home for senior citizens and disabled people. Officials will go door-to-door to collect votes.

Saksham app is designed in a user friendly manner. You can navigate through the various features provided by the app. Any eligible disabled person can register himself as a disabled person through Saksham App by clicking on the column for New Voter Registration.

After downloading the app on the phone, ECI will have to provide details like name, address, phone number etc. They will also have to provide their EPIC number mentioned on their voter ID card.

After this, the booth level officer will meet them and complete the remaining formalities. The Saksham app also has the facility to place a request for a wheelchair along with pick and drop facility on the election day.

  • The Saksham app provides voice assistance options for visually impaired individuals.
  • The app allows text to speech feature for those who are hearing impaired.
  • The Capable app has large fonts and high contrast colors, making it easy for everyone to read and understand.
  • The app provides the user with information about polling stations, location of polling stations and contact details of officials for further assistance if required.
  • The app also allows them to lodge complaints.

Some other features available on the app
There are requests for new voter registration, requests for migration, requests for correction or deletion, status tracking and finding details about candidates.
