Transgenders will get medical and business facilities

Haridwar, 01 February (HS). For the convenience of the transgender community, a separate OPD has been arranged in Mela Hospital on Wednesday. Besides, the Kinnar community will also be provided with the facility of providing cheap loans for business and shops in the newly developing vending zones. Haridwar district has the highest number of transgenders in Uttarakhand. This information was given by the officials in the meeting of Transgender Protection Cell Committee chaired by Chief Development Officer Prateek Jain on Thursday.

In the meeting, Health Department officials informed that a separate OPD has started operating every Wednesday for transgenders in Mela Hospital. In this, on the demand of arranging a separate ward for transgenders in the hospital, the probation officer assured to send a letter to the Chief Medical Officer. He also informed that when the proposed food street is developed near Devpura, priority will be given in allotting shops to transgenders.

Voluntary organization Himalayan Institute of Rural Awakening, Roorkee is providing support in providing skill development training to transgenders. In the meeting, the transgenders demanded that like in Dehradun district, in Haridwar too, arrangements should be made by Khadi and Village Industries to provide loans to transgenders at low rates. The lead bank manager received the information and assured action.

In the meeting, SDM Sadar Ajay Veer Singh, SDM Laksar Gopal Chauhan, SDM Bhagwanpur Jitendra Kumar, CO City Mrs. Juhi Manral, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Manish Dutt, Probation Officer Avinash Bhadauria, Chief Education Officer KK Gupta, Lead Bank Manager Sanjay Sant, District Program Officer Mrs. Sulekha Sehgal and concerned officers were present.
