Star female wrestler Vinesh Phogat has made a comeback on the mat with a bang. Asian Games champion Vinesh Phogat won the gold medal in 55 kg at the Senior National Wrestling Championships organized by the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) Ad-hoc Committee. Vinesh used her experience to defeat Madhya Pradesh’s Jyoti 4-0 while competing in the higher weight category for the top spot.
Vinesh Phogat, 29, representing the Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB), won the gold medal in 50 kg at the 2018 Jakarta Asian Games. In 2022, he won the 53 kg weight category title at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games. Olympic medalist Sakshi Malik presented the gold medal to Vinesh. World Championship silver medalist Anshu Malik won gold medal
In another match, 2021 World Championship silver medalist Anshu Malik of Haryana defeated 2020 Asian Championship gold medalist Sarita More (Railways) 8-3 in the 59 kg weight category. Haryana won the title with 189 points. RSPB was in second place with 187 points while Pondicherry was in third place with 81 points.
